WHO IS THE COURSE DESIGNED FOR

This CPD course provides a comprehensive set of knowledge and practical skills needed to better understand general mental health conditions, raising an awareness of how important it is to the workplace and families.

OVERVIEW

This Mental Health Awareness Course introduces mental health and what it means, including an overview of mental health problems, outlining some of the symptoms and effects, and explains what people can do to prevent, understand and promote and support a healthy and non-discriminatory work environment.

This course is not a licence to treat and/ or become a mental health practitioner. It is a collection of information from various sources to give you a better understanding of mental health problems.

  • In person – during the o99 Training Academy working hours (with a minimum 2 hours’ notice)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, learners will:

  1. Understand what is meant by ‘mental health’.
  2. Understand and be aware of the legal responsibilities which employers have in regards to mental health problems.
  3. Understand the most common mental health problems.
  4. Understand ways in which people can manage their individual mental health to make everyday living easier.
  5. Recognise when someone has mental health problems or is potentially deteriorating towards a mental health condition
  6. Understand ways to support a colleague and/ or friends with a mental health problem in the workplace and/ or everyday life, including an understanding of how to promote a healthy, non-discriminatory working environment.
  7. Understand ways to prevent and help mental health problems.

LEARNING ASSESSMENTS

The examination is formed of 15 multiple choice questions.

The minimum pass mark is 80%.
